ASCA ELISA kits are assays designed to detect anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies, which are produced against antigens present on the cell wall of the yeast S. cerevisiae. The target residues are those of mannose, from the cell wall component mannan. Two classes of ASCA as ASCA IgG and ASCA IgA are produced in the body. The presence of ASCA can be indicative of inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
