PINK1 encodes the human gene, PTEN induced putative kinase 1. It may also be known as: Serine/threonine-protein kinase PINK1, mitochondrial; BRPK; PTEN-induced putative kinase protein 1; Serine/threonine-protein kinase PINK1, mitochondrial ; PARK6. The encoded protein is an enzyme with an amino acid length of 581 and a mass of 62.8 kDa. Other isoforms may exist. PINK1 is a member of the Protein kinase superfamily, Ser/Thr protein kinase family. Homologs of this gene exist in other organisms, including: Fly, Mouse, Rat, Zebrafish, Chicken.
