Anti-Annexin A5 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ANXA5 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 320 amino acid residues and a mass of 35.9 kDa. A member of the Annexin protein family, it is known to be an anticoagulant protein that acts as an indirect inhibitor of the thromboplastin-specific complex, which is involved in the blood coagulation cascade. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Pregnancy loss. Other names for this target antigen include CPB-I, ENX2, HEL-S-7, PP4, RPRGL3, VAC-alph, CBP-I, and ANX5. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 1800 citations in the literature describe the use of Annexin A5 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
