Anti-P3H3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein prolyl 3-hydroxylase 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 736 amino acid residues and a mass of 81.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in fetal cartilage. A member of the Leprecan protein family, P3h3 is reported to be part of a complex composed of PLOD1, P3H3 and P3H4 that catalyzes hydroxylation of lysine residues in collagen alpha chains and is required for normal assembly and cross-linkling of collagen fibrils. Synonyms for this target antigen include HSU47926, LEPREL2, gene rich cluster, B, leprecan-like 2, procollagen-proline 3-dioxygenase, protein B, and GRCB. P3H3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of P3h3 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
