Anti-LVM antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the LVM antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the MLC1 gene, which encodes modulator of VRAC current 1. This protein is known to function in cholesterol metabolism and homeostasis and the transport of ions, among other biological roles. The human version of LVM has a canonical amino acid length of 377 residues and a protein mass of 41.1 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane, ER, and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the placenta, cerebellum, and caudate.
