Anti-KASI antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the KASI antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the OXSM gene, which encodes 3-oxoacyl-ACP synthase, mitochondrial. This protein is known to function in metabolic processes, among other biological roles. The human version of KASI has a canonical amino acid length of 459 residues and a protein mass of 48.8 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include CEM1 and FASN2D.
