Anti-GALNT18 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 18. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 607 amino acid residues and a mass of 69.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the Golgi. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Glycosyltransferase 2 protein family, GALNT18 is known to catalyze the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, the transfer of an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine (GalNAc) residue from UDP-GalNAc to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor. Synonyms for this target antigen include UDP-GalNAc:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-like protein 4, UDP-N-acetyl-alpha-D-galactosamine:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 15, and GalNAc-transferase 18. GALNT18 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for GALNT18 antibodies.
