Anti-CLEC5C antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CLEC5C is a known alias name of the protein killer cell lectin like receptor F1, encoded by the KLRF1 gene in humans. This 231-amino acid residue protein is reported to be involved in natural killer (NK)-mediated cytolysis of PHA-induced lymphoblasts. It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes and spleen, with weaker expression in lymph node and adult liver, and no expression detected in bone marrow, thymus, and fetal liver. Other synonyms for CLEC5C include NKp80 and killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily F member 1.
