Anti-CYP12 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CYP12 is a known alias name of the protein cytochrome P450 family 8 subfamily B member 1, encoded by the CYP8B1 gene in humans. This 501-amino acid residue protein is a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase involved in primary bile acid biosynthesis. It is localized to the ER of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in the liver. Other synonyms for CYP12 include CP8B and 7-alpha-hydroxycholest-4-en-3-one 12-alpha-hydroxylase.
