Anti-Kv8.1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Kv8.1 is a known alias name of the protein potassium voltage-gated channel modifier subfamily V member 1, encoded by the KCNV1 gene in humans. This 500-amino acid residue protein is a reported potassium channel subunit that does not form functional channels by itself. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in the brain. Other synonyms for Kv8.1 include HNKA, KCNB3, and KV2.3.
