Anti-BAP antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the BAP antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PHB2 gene, which encodes prohibitin 2. This protein is known to function in cell migration and the cellular response to hypoxia, among other biological roles. The human version of BAP has a canonical amino acid length of 299 residues and a protein mass of 33.3 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, and cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. BAP is a member of the Prohibitin protein family.
