Anti-TOM20 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the TOM20 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the TOMM20 gene, which encodes translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 20. This protein is reported to be a central component of the receptor complex responsible for the recognition and translocation of cytosolically synthesized mitochondrial preproteins. The human version of TOM20 has a canonical amino acid length of 145 residues and a protein mass of 16.3 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include MAS20 and MOM19.
