Anti-PRX V antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target PRX V is a known alias name of the protein peroxiredoxin 5, encoded by the PRDX5 gene in humans. This 214-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a thiol-specific peroxidase that catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and organic hydroperoxides to water and alcohols, respectively. It is localized to the mitochondria and cytoplasm of the cell and features palmitoylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is widely expressed across many tissue types. Other synonyms for PRX V include ACR1, AOEB166, and B166. Western Blot is the most common application for the PRX V antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
