Anti-luciferase antibodies are available from several suppliers for the immunodetection of the luciferase class of enzymes. Luciferases are widely used in research as reporters for gene expression. Recombinant proteins fused to luciferase can be detected via bioluminescence with the addition of a substrate, such as luciferin. As with other protein tags, luciferase may also be detected via antibodies in applications such as Western blot, ELISA, and immunofluorescence. The most common luciferases are firefly luciferase (Photinus pyralis and Lychocoriolaus lateralis) and Renilla luciferase (Renilla reniformis). Less common luciferases include those derived from other species, such as Gaussia and Cypridina. For target specificity and reactivity, visit the supplier page for more information.
