Anti-HNP antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the HNP antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the KLK8 gene, which encodes kallikrein related peptidase 8. This protein is known to function in proteolysis, among other biological roles. The human version of HNP has a canonical amino acid length of 260 residues and a protein mass of 28 kilodaltons, although 4 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm and is secreted of cells and notably expressed in the vagina, tonsil, skin, and oral mucosa. HNP is a member of the Peptidase S1 protein family. Western Blot is the most common application for the HNP antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
