Anti-Peripherin antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene PRPH in humans. The Peripherin protein has an expected mass of 53.7 kDa, but there are 2 reported isoforms. The protein may also be known as NEF4, PRPH1, and neurofilament 4 (57kD). Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat.
