Anti-JCAD antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein junctional cadherin 5 associated. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1359 amino acid residues and a mass of 148.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell junctions. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. JCAD is known to be involved with cell adhesion and MAPK cascade signaling pathways. Synonyms for this target antigen include junctional cadherin 5-associated protein and junctional protein associated with coronary artery disease. JCAD gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
