Anti-ISBT antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The ISBT antigen is another term for the human protein solute carrier family 10 member 2, encoded by the SLC10A2 gene. The protein is known to play an important role in the sodium-dependent reabsorption of bile acids from the lumen of the small intestine. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 348 residues and a mass of 37.7 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane and it is reported to be mainly expressed in ileum and kidney, lower expression in cecum. The ISBT protein is a member of the Bile acid:sodium symporter (BASS) (TC 2.A.28) protein family. Other alias names for ISBT include ASBT, ASBT, and IBAT.
