Anti-NEK6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein NIMA related kinase 6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 313 amino acid residues and a mass of 35.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is found to be widely expressed, with highest expression in the heart and skeletal muscle. A member of the NEK Ser/Thr protein kinase protein family, NEK6 is reported to be a protein kinase, which plays an important role in mitotic cell cycle progression. Synonyms for this target antigen include serine/threonine-protein kinase Nek6, NIMA (never in mitosis gene a)-related kinase 6, never in mitosis A-related kinase 6, nimA-related protein kinase 6, and SID6-1512. NEK6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of NEK6 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
