PRMT4, or Coactivator associated arginine methyltransferase 1, is a human gene encoded by CARM1. It may also be known as: Histone-arginine methyltransferase CARM1; Coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1; Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 4; Histone-arginine methyltransferase CARM1 . The encoded protein is an enzyme with an amino acid length of 608 and a mass of 65.9 kDa. PRMT4 is a member of the Class I-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily, Protein arginine N-methyltransferase family. Homologs of this gene exist in other organisms, including: Mouse, Rat, Zebrafish, Frog.
