Anti-SLC8A2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein solute carrier family 8 member A2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 921 amino acid residues and a mass of 100.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. A member of a the Ca(2+):cation antiporter (CaCA) (TC 2.A.19) protein family, SLC8A2 is known to mediate the electrogenic exchange of Ca(2+) against Na(+) ions across the cell membrane, and thereby contributes to the regulation of cytoplasmic Ca(2+) levels and Ca(2+)-dependent cellular processes. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include sodium/calcium exchanger 2, Na(+)/Ca(2+)-exchange protein 2, Na+/Ca2+-exchanging protein Nac2, solute carrier family 8 (sodium/calcium exchanger), member 2, solute carrier family 8 member 2, and NCX2.
