Anti-TDP-43 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the TDP-43 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the TARDBP gene, which encodes TAR DNA binding protein. This protein is known to function in mRNA processing and the regulation of gene expression, among other biological roles. The human version of TDP-43 has a canonical amino acid length of 414 residues and a protein mass of 44.7 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus, mitochondria, and cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types.
