Anti-sCD4 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target sCD4 is a known alias name of the protein stearoyl-CoA desaturase 5, encoded by the SCD5 gene in humans. This 330-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a Stearoyl-CoA desaturase that utilizes O(2) and electrons from reduced cytochrome b5 to introduce the first double bond into saturated fatty acyl-CoA substrates. It is localized to the ER of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in fetal brain, and at lower levels in fetal kidney.
