Anti-Connexin 43 antibodies detect the protein encoded by the gene GJA1, or 'gap junction protein alpha 1' in humans. The 382-amino acid protein is a member of the Connexin family, Alpha-type (group II) subfamily. The cellular localization is predicted to be membrane-associated.
