Anti-SYT14 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein synaptotagmin 14. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 555 amino acid residues and a mass of 62.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. Up to 7 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in fetal and adult brain tissue. A member of the Synaptotagmin protein family, SYT14 is suspected to be involved in the trafficking and exocytosis of secretory vesicles in non-neuronal tissues. The SYT14 gene has been associated with the disease, Spinocerebellar ataxia. Synonyms for this target antigen include synaptotagmin XIV. SYT14 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is the most common application for the SYT14 antibodies listed below.
