Anti-Myelin associated glycoprotein antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene MAG in humans. The gene may also be known as Gma, SIGLEC4A, S-MAG, and sialic acid binding Ig-like lectin 4A. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 69.1 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, fly, canine, porcine, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
