Anti-Platelet factor 4 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene PF4 in humans. The gene may also be known as CXCL4, PF-4, SCYB4, C-X-C motif chemokine 4, and chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 10.8 kilodaltons in mass. The PF4 marker can be used to identify Megakaryocytes (MK), Lung Megakaryocytes, and Platelets.* Based on gene name, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
