Anti-Major histocompatibility complex, class I, E antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene HLA-E in humans. The gene may also be known as Qa1, HLA-6. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 40.1 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, monkey orthologs may also be found.
