Anti-CNTN5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein contactin 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1100 amino acid residues and a mass of 120.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in the brain and kidney and at very low level in the placenta. A member of the Contactin protein family, CNTN5 is known to be involved with axon guidance and brain development. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include NB-2, neural adhesion molecule, neural recognition molecule NB-2, and HNB-2s. CNTN5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some CNTN5 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. ELISA is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunofluorescence is also a common application.
