Anti-KIF18A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein kinesin family member 18A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 898 amino acid residues and a mass of 102.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus, cell projections, and cytoplasm. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Kinesin protein family, KIF18A is reported to be a microtubule-depolymerizing kinesin, which plays a role in chromosome congression by reducing the amplitude of preanaphase oscillations and slowing poleward movement during anaphase, thus suppressing chromosome movements. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation and ubiquitination. Synonyms for this target antigen include kinesin-like protein KIF18A and protein phosphatase 1, regulatory subunit 99. KIF18A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of KIF18A antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
