Anti-Bestrophin 1 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene BEST1 in humans. The gene may also be known as ARB, BMD, Best1V1Delta2, Best disease, and vitelliform macular dystrophy protein 2. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 67.7 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
