Anti-ADAM metallopeptidase with thrombospondin type 1 motif 5 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene ADAMTS5 in humans. The gene may also be known as a disintegrin-like and metallopeptidase (reprolysin type) with thrombospondin type 1 motif, 5 (aggrecanase-2), Aggrecanase-2, and ADAM-TS 11. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 101.7 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
