Anti-MYH14 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein myosin heavy chain 14. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1995 amino acid residues and a mass of 227.9 kDa. Up to 5 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Myosin protein family, MYH14 is reported to be a cellular myosin that appears to play a role in cytokinesis, cell shape, and specialized functions such as secretion and capping. The MYH14 gene has been associated with the disease, Deafness. Synonyms for this target antigen include MYH14 variant protein, myosin heavy chain, non-muscle IIc, myosin, heavy chain 14, non-muscle, myosin, heavy polypeptide 14, non-muscle myosin heavy chain IIc, and myosin-14. MYH14 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Over 200 citations in the literature describe the use of MYH14 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
