Anti-BEGAIN antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein brain enriched guanylate kinase associated. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 593 amino acid residues and a mass of 64.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane and cytoplasm. BEGAIN is believed to sustain the structure of the postsynaptic density (PSD). Synonyms for this target antigen include brain-enriched guanylate kinase-associated homolog, and brain-enriched guanylate kinase-associated protein. BEGAIN gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some BEGAIN antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. These antibodies are most commonly used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
