Anti-Matrix metallopeptidase 12 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene MMP12 in humans. The gene may also be known as ME, MMP-12, HME, MME, MMP-12, and macrophage metalloelastase. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 54 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
