Anti-BBC3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein BCL2 binding component 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 261 amino acid residues and a mass of 26.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. BBC3 is known to be involved with the apoptotic pathway. Synonyms for this target antigen include JFY1, PUMA, p53 up-regulated modulator of apoptosis, p53-upregulated modulator of apoptosis, and JFY-1. BBC3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species. Over 710 citations in the literature describe the use of BBC3 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
