Anti-CaMKII antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CaMKII is a known alias name of the protein calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II gamma, encoded by the CAMK2G gene in humans. This 558-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in cell differentiation and nervous system development, among other biological processes. It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in skeletal muscle. Other synonyms for CaMKII include CAMK and CAMK-II.
