Anti-CDK2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein cyclin dependent kinase 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 298 amino acid residues and a mass of 33.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the bone marrow, tonsil, and appendix. A member of the CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase protein family, CDK2 is known to be a protein kinase involved in the control of the cell cycle; essential for meiosis, but dispensable for mitosis. Synonyms for this target antigen include p33(CDK2), cdc2-related protein kinase, cell division protein kinase 2, p33 protein kinase, and CDKN2. CDK2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 1200 citations in the literature describe the use of CDK2 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
