The gene may also be known as BBC2, BCL2L8, BCL-X/BCL-2 binding protein, and BCL2-antagonist of cell death protein. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 18.4 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
