The T7 tag is an 11-amino acid peptide epitope with the sequence, MASMTGGQQMG, first derived from the major capsid protein of the T7 bacteriophage. It is a commonly used tag in expression vectors such as in the pET system. Antibodies to the T7 epitope may serve as a useful tool in the detection and analysis of T7-tagged fusion proteins.
