Anti-EMAP like 6 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the EML6 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1958 amino acid residues and a mass of 217.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the WD repeat EMAP protein family, it is believed to modify the assembly dynamics of microtubules, such that microtubules are slightly longer, but more dynamic. Other names for this target antigen include EMAP-6, echinoderm microtubule associated protein like 6, and echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 6. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
