Anti-ATP5MK antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ATP synthase membrane subunit k. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 58 amino acid residues and a mass of 6.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. The ATP5MK gene has been associated with the disease, Mitochondrial complex V deficiency. Synonyms for this target antigen include ATP synthase membrane subunit DAPIT, mitochondrial, Diabetes Associated Protein in Insulin-sensitive Tissues, HCV F-transactivated protein 2, and ATP synthase membrane subunit K, mitochondrial. ATP5MK gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
