Anti-CASC3 exon junction complex subunit antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the CASC3 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 703 amino acid residues and a mass of 76.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of the CASC3 protein family, it is said to be required for pre-mRNA splicing as component of the spliceosome. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination. Other names for this target antigen include MLN51, protein CASC3, MLN 51, barentsz, cancer susceptibility 3, and BTZ. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
