Anti-MSMB antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein microseminoprotein beta. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 114 amino acid residues and a mass of 12.9 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in prostate, liver, kidney, breast and penis. It is a member of the Beta-microseminoprotein family. The MSMB marker can be used to identify Prostate Epithelium Luminal Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include IGBF, MSP, MSPB, PN44, PRPS, PSP, PSP-94, and HPC13. MSMB gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species.
