Anti-Endothelin 2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the EDN2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 178 amino acid residues and a mass of 20 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. It is reported to be expressed in the lung, but not in placental stem villi vessels or cultured placental villi smooth muscle cells. A member of the Endothelin/sarafotoxin protein family, it is known to be involved with angiogenesis and receptor-mediated signaling pathways. Other names for this target antigen include ET2, PPET2, preproendothelin 2, and ET-2.
