Anti-MRP2 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target MRP2 is a known alias name of the protein ATP binding cassette subfamily C member 2, encoded by the ABCC2 gene in humans. This 1545-amino acid residue protein is reported to be an aTP-dependent transporter of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) family that binds and hydrolyzes ATP to enable active transport of various substrates including many drugs, toxicants and endogenous compound across cell membranes. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is noted to be expressed by polarized cells in the liver, kidney and intestine.
