Anti-alpha kinase 2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ALPK2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 2170 amino acid residues and a mass of 237 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is reported to be expressed in developing cardiac tissue and cardiomyocytes. A member of the Alpha-type protein kinase protein family, it is reported to be a protein kinase that recognizes phosphorylation sites in which the surrounding peptides have an alpha-helical conformation. Other names for this target antigen include heart alpha-kinase, heart alpha-protein kinase, and alpha-protein kinase 2.
