Anti-adducin 3 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ADD3 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 706 amino acid residues and a mass of 79.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the Aldolase class II protein family, it is reported to be a membrane-cytoskeleton-associated protein that promotes the assembly of the spectrin-actin network. Post-translational modifications have been described, including sumoylation and protein cleavage.
The adducin 3 marker can be used to characterize Mature CD4 Single-Positive Thymocytes.* Other names for this target antigen include ADDL and CPSQ3. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some adducin 3 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
