Anti-FGFBP1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein fibroblast growth factor binding protein 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 234 amino acid residues and a mass of 26.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and is secreted. It is notably expressed in the tonsil, skin, oral mucosa, esophagus, and cervix. A member of the Fibroblast growth factor-binding protein family, FGFBP1 is known to act as a carrier protein that release fibroblast-binding factors (FGFs) from the extracellular matrix (EM) storage and thus enhance the mitogenic activity of FGFs. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include FGFBP, HBP17, 17 kDa HBGF-binding protein, 17 kDa heparin-binding growth factor-binding protein, FGF-binding protein 1, and FGF-BP. FGFBP1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
