Anti-MutS homolog 2 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene MSH2 in humans. The gene may also be known as COCA1, FCC1, HNPCC, HNPCC1, DNA mismatch repair protein Msh2, and DNA mismatch repair protein Msh2 transcript. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 104.7 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, yeast, plant, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
